The sale has started and you immediately feel the itch: what am I going to score this season? But let's face it, no matter how tempting all those good prices are... a closet full of 'bargains' that you don't do anything with, nobody likes that. That's why we at Cuypers like to share a few smart tips for targeted and stylish sale shopping.
1. Look first at what you already have
Before you dive into the racks or scroll through the webshop, it's smart to take a look in your closet. What basics do you wear year-round? What colors and styles keep coming back? And more importantly, what are you still missing? A good pair of jeans, a neutral blazer or just that one statement item that makes your outfits that little bit more exciting? If you know what you are looking for, you can shop much better.
2. Think in combinations
See an item on sale that makes your heart beat faster? Then ask yourself: can I combine this with at least three other things I already have? That way you avoid coming home with something that ends up just hanging pretty in your closet. Items that are versatile always deserve a place.
3. Go for quality
The sale is the time to stock up on pieces that are normally a bit above budget. Think of a nice blazer by Essentiel, classic pants by Someday or a luxurious knit by 10 Days. Quality lasts longer and you can feel it. And honestly, isn't it great to score something special for less?
4. Stick to yourself
Trends are fun, but you don't have to go with everything. Choose clothes you feel good in. Whether that's a colorful blouse or a nice black top: if it suits you, you'll wear it more often. And that's what it's all about in the end.
5. Think ahead
Even though it's full summer, feel free to think ahead. Can you wear that dress later with tights and boots? Will that coat still be nice in the fall? Timeless items are always a smart move.
So: take your time, be critical and trust your gut. And most importantly? Enjoy searching, fitting and combining. Because nothing is better than coming home with an item that really completes your closet and your look.
